The Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine: Latin American Forum reflects a distinctive collaboration between the FDA, PR’s INDUNIV Research Consortium, the Golden Helix Institute of Biomedical Research in Europe and PGENI at UNC. This alliance presents an exceptional opportunity for the discussion of scientific and clinical issues in the development of pharmacogenomic markers for Latin American populations and their value to health care through personalized medicine.

This congress has been organized because the development of pharmacogenomic biomarkers in Latin American populations has intensified in recent years. Their value to healthcare cuts across national boundaries, so that these biomarkers guide therapeutic applications both in the country where they are originally identified, but also in countries where migratory trends have transformed their populations. There is a need to make sense of what we know thus far, and to also find out what else we need to know in order to have effective applications for these biomarkers.

The target audience for this congress are the pharmaceutical industry scientists, clinicians, academic and regulatory scientists.
